The black shutters worked perfectly with the timber bar, operated by key switch from behind the bar when the shutters were in the up position the space was nice and open. Even with the shutters down securing the bar the space once still open and light.

How do I choose the best value roller shutter for my project?
Roller & Security shutters come in all different designs and materials but how do you choose the best shutter at the right price for your project?
Generally speaking manual shutters are always going to be more cost effective than electric shutters but manual shutters can only be made to a limited size, except hand chain operated shutters that can be made to any size. Although the difference in price between manual roller shutters and electric roller shutters has narrowed over the last few years due to scale, we make more electric shutters than we do manual shutters.
Tips on getting the best price:
Material - The starting point for any roller shutter is the material it is made out of. PVC material tends to be the cheapest then aluminum closely followed by steel. More expensive materials to make roller shutters from is timber roller shutters, polycarbonate roller shutters or stainless steel roller shutters.
Finish to the shutter - The next pricing point on any roller shutter if the finish. A standard galvanised finish on any steel roller shutter is always going to keep the price down. The same with aluminum roller shutters, stick to a standard colour of white, dark brown, black or anthracite grey and you will keep the cost down.
Type of shutter - A solid curtain on a shutter is best value, the less processes involved in making a roller shutter the better the price will be. Punched, perforated or open style shutters will require additional processes in manufacture so increase the costs.
Operation - Manual operated push up/pull down shutters are the easiest to install and easiest to make making them the most cost effective shutters. Manual shutters can only be made to a certain size for larger openings electric operation is going to be required. Key switch or a fixed button to operate the shutter is always cheaper than having a shutter remote control operated.
Supply only or supplied & installed - Often the biggest cost of fitting a roller shutter is the installation, if you can fit the shutter yourself then this will give the biggest saving.
